The Life and Work of Dolores Cannon

Dolores Cannon (1931-2014) was a notable figure in the realm of spiritual exploration. Her career spanned over four decades, during which she engaged in extensive research and practice in the field of past life regression. Cannon’s commitment to uncovering and sharing the mysteries of the human psyche and its many lives was truly unparalleled.

She was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and her journey into the metaphysical began rather unexpectedly. Her husband, a naval officer at the time, was stationed in Texas in 1968. There, Dolores and her husband were introduced to the concept of reincarnation by a resident doctor. This sparked their interest in the subject, prompting them to use hypnosis on a friend who was suffering from nervous eating habits and insomnia. The results were startling – not only did her condition improve, but she began to recount experiences from a past life during the 1800s. This was the genesis of Cannon’s life-long quest.

“My life’s work and what I have been prepared to do, is to bring forth information that would help humanity to understand the larger picture.”

~Dolores Cannon

Developing QHHT

Over the years, Dolores developed her unique method of induction for past life regression, known as Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique (QHHT). This method enables individuals to access their Higher Self or Subconscious, the part of us that is connected to the universal source of infinite knowledge and wisdom.

  • Education: Cannon was a self-taught researcher and practitioner. She was a voracious reader and constantly kept abreast with the latest developments in her field.
  • Writings: Her dedicated research and unique experiences led her to pen 17 books about metaphysical concepts, past lives, extraterrestrials, and lost knowledge. Her books are published in more than 20 languages.
  • Talks and Conferences: Cannon was a popular speaker at international metaphysical and spiritual conferences, where she discussed her research on lost knowledge and UFOs, and gave demonstrations of her regression techniques.
  • Teaching: She taught her unique technique of hypnosis all over the world. To this day, QHHT practitioners continue to practice and spread her teachings.

Through her work, Dolores Cannon aimed to bridge the gap between science and spirituality, and help individuals understand their purpose in life. Although she passed away in 2014, her legacy persists and continues to enlighten many across the globe.

Cannon has conducted over 50,000 past life regression sessions with clients.

Dolores Cannon’s Contribution to Past Life Regression Therapy

While Dolores’s method shares some similarities with other past life regression therapies, it is her approach and the emphasis on communication with the Higher Self that sets her work apart. Most past life regression therapies utilize hypnosis to guide clients back through their past lives. However, Dolores’s technique goes beyond simple regressions. It taps into a realm where instantaneous healing can occur and profound insights about life’s purpose can be gleaned – a realm that Dolores referred to as the “Universal Mind”.

One distinct aspect of Dolores’s work is the extensive use of dialogue during sessions. This discourse between the practitioner and the client’s Higher Self allows the practitioner to seek answers to the client’s most profound questions, and in turn, facilitates healing and transformation. Her technique also emphasizes the importance of understanding and learning from the experiences of past lives, and how these experiences can influence an individual’s present life.

“The power of the mind is tremendous. If it can create an illness, it can also cure it.”

~Dolores Cannon

Despite her physical departure from this world in 2014, Dolores Cannon’s influence and teachings continue to inspire and guide countless individuals seeking answers to life’s mysteries. She left behind a rich legacy, including a series of books documenting her research and findings, the development of QHHT, and a community of practitioners trained in her unique method.

Cannon’s Unique Approach to Past Life Regression

Unlike conventional hypnotherapists, Cannon’s approach was multifaceted. QHHT is a method that combines elements from past life regression, healing, and spiritual exploration. This technique, which she honed over decades of practice, hinges on the belief that the subconscious (or higher self) has the answers to all questions. Cannon believed that by establishing a communicative bridge with this higher self, individuals could gain profound insights into their past lives and potential futures.

“The power of the mind is truly unlimited. Our subconscious is a doorway to past lives and future possibilities. We merely need the right keys to open it.”

~Dolores Cannon

It is worth noting that Cannon’s methods were not without controversy. Critics often point out her lack of formal training in psychology or psychiatry. However, those who have experienced her techniques firsthand generally report profound, life-altering insights. Despite the criticism, her approach has been adopted and modified by several other therapists in the field of past life regression.

Accessing Other Worlds

One of the most significant things about Dolores’ work is the number of books she produced.  The reason she published so much material is that in her sessions, her clients were able to recant experiences that transcend the simple personal human experience.  Some of her clients were able to talk about the seeding of life on planet Earth, and even extra-terrestrial experience from this and other worlds.

One of my personal favorites is, Keepers of the Garden which is information given through one of her clients about the extra-terrestrial seeding of life on Earth.  The Convoluted Universe is her iconic series that was also information transferred to Dolores via her client’s Superconscious.  This is not empirical scientific evidence, but definitely describes our human experience from a spiritual perspective and answers many questions on the spiritual level that science and spirituality both grapple with.

Meet Other Past Life Regression Therapists

Now that we’ve delved into the fascinating world of Dolores Cannon and Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique (QHHT), it seems only fitting to broaden our scope and acquaint ourselves with other therapists who’ve made significant contributions in the field of past life regression. While their methods may vary, these individuals share a common goal: to utilize past life information as a tool for healing, self-discovery, and spiritual growth.

Brian L. Weiss

First on our list is Dr. Brian Weiss, an American psychiatrist who, much like Dolores Cannon, happened upon the concept of past life regression quite unexpectedly. While conducting a hypnotherapy session with a patient suffering from anxiety and depression, Weiss was astonished when she began recounting past-life traumas. This revelation propelled him into extensive research in the field, culminating in his groundbreaking book, “Many Lives, Many Masters“. Weiss’ method differs from Cannon’s QHHT in that it does not necessarily involve the “higher self” or the subconscious, focusing instead on tapping directly into past life memories.

Michael Newton

Another noteworthy figure is Dr. Michael Newton, a hypnotherapist and author known for his work on Life Between Lives (LBL) regression. Newton’s method extends beyond exploring past lives to include the soul’s experiences in the spirit world between incarnations. His best-known book, “Journey of Souls“, is a collection of case studies documenting these spiritual interludes. Compared to Cannon’s QHHT, Newton’s approach is more extensive, encompassing not just past lives but also the time spent between them.

Carol Bowman

Lastly, let’s not forget about Carol Bowman, an author and past life regression therapist who has done significant work with children. Bowman’s approach is unique in that she focuses specifically on helping children recall past-life memories to resolve fears, phobias, and behavioral issues. Her popular book, “Children’s Past Lives“, underscores the therapeutic benefits of past life regression in youngsters. While Cannon’s QHHT is primarily designed for adults, Bowman’s technique shows that past life regression can be applied effectively to younger individuals.

There you have it—a brief introduction to some of the other significant figures in the world of past life regression. As we can see, while each of these therapists shares Dolores Cannon’s interest in accessing past life information, their methods and areas of focus vary. This diversity of approaches is a testament to the richness and depth of the field, underscoring the many ways in which past life regression can be used as a tool for healing and personal growth.

Comparing QHHT to Other Past Life Regression Techniques

In the grand spectrum of past life regression techniques, Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique (QHHT) – a method pioneered by the late Dolores Cannon – holds a unique position. This is not only due to its distinct methodology, but also because of Cannon’s extensive body of work, which includes an impressive array of books, lectures, and courses. I believe that understanding QHHT’s uniqueness requires an evaluation of its likeness and differences from other popular past life regression methods.

The Similarities

Similar to many other past life regression techniques, QHHT utilizes hypnosis as the primary tool to access the Subconscious (or the Higher Self, as it is sometimes called). This is a common thread you’ll find in other methods, such as the work done by Dr. Michael Newton (Life Between Lives) and Brian Weiss (Many Lives, Many Masters). They all hold the belief that the Subconscious is a repository of all past lives, and that it can provide profound insights into our present lives and future trajectories. In all these methods, the therapist guides the client into a deep state of relaxation, allowing them to bypass the conscious mind and tap into the Subconscious.

The Differences

Despite these similarities, there are salient differences that set QHHT apart. Firstly, in QHHT, the practitioner does not lead or suggest experiences to the client. Rather, Dolores Cannon was adamant that the Subconscious should be allowed to choose what past life to show the client, as it knows best what the client needs to understand or resolve. In contrast, other regression therapists might suggest specific periods in history or types of experiences for the client to explore.

Secondly, QHHT places a significant focus on healing. While other regression methods also recognize the healing potential of exploring past lives, QHHT is distinct in that it specifically involves a stage where the practitioner asks the Subconscious to perform a body scan and carry out healing where needed. In other methods, healing may occur as a byproduct of gaining insight and resolving past life traumas, but it is not usually a dedicated stage of the process.

Lastly, QHHT sessions are typically longer, often lasting up to five hours. This differs significantly from other regression therapies that usually last one to two hours and are done in the context of psychotherapy. The extended duration of a QHHT session allows for a more in-depth exploration and ensures that the client is fully immersed in the experience.

QHHT is a profound tool with an emphasis on healing and the discovery of the wisdom within us. It is a journey of exploration and recognition of the incredible power of the Subconscious.

Non-Directive Approach

While QHHT shares the common foundation of using hypnosis to access past lives with other regression techniques, it distinctly stands out due to its non-directive approach, emphasis on healing, and longer session durations. As always, it is crucial for individuals seeking past life regression therapy to consider their own needs and preferences when choosing a method.

There are countless books and Youtube interviews with Dolores that talk about the extraordinary.  Some of her students have similar experiences with contacting the Superconscious and getting information about our extraordinary lives.  I myself have had some very interesting sessions.  However, it is important to note that 95% of our sessions are “meat and potatoes” sessions where our lives are mostly mundane.

In Conclusion

Remember, with QHHT, we allow the Superconscious to dictate what will happen during the session, and the focus is on Healing.
